Mirror and Lighting have been accompanying people for thousands of years. Archaeological finds prove that man had already seen his face in polished bronze about 5000 years ago. Today mirrors belong to the self-contained inventory of each apartment. But what is the quality of the products? How to use mirrors for spatial design? And where must a mirror hang? The photo show shows attractive examples for setting up and decorating with mirrors.
“Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the most beautiful in the whole country?” Even in Grimm’s “Snow White” the mirror plays a central role. People have always been fascinated by their own reflection. During excavations in Mesopotamia bronze mirrors were discovered that were made around 3000 BC. At that time it was simply reflected in the brightly polished metal, in today’s mirror are generally manufactured from glass and used in different variants and functions. A large mirror in the corridor is indispensable.
There should be at least three Mirror and Lighting in each apartment and in each house: the whole-body mirror in the hallway, the bathroom mirror and a whole-body mirror in the bedroom. In order to be able to cast an eye on the exterior before exiting the apartment, the mirror in the entrance area is an absolute must.
The frame should be selected for the rest of the set. Mirrors without frames make rooms look larger, but they also have a cooler, more technical appearance than mirrors in the wood or baroque frame. In a classic ambience fits a glass with a faceted edge.
Even in the bathroom you can not do without a mirror. Very practical are mirror cabinets or three-part, swivel mirrors. Many people also appreciate a cosmetic mirror that magnifies the mirror image. This facilitates the make-up or trimming of the male edge of the beard. Mirror in the bathroom should be illuminated with a light source from the top, from the left and from the right. Then there are no shadows on the face. If the toilet is in a separate room, there is a small, rimless mirror above the washbasin.
For the bedroom, a bodiedle full body Mirror and Lighting is recommended. So you can look at the dressing, whether the selected clothing fits well and whether everything sits as it should. Ordinary wall mirrors are well suited, but also a mirror can be a nice view. Often, even bedroom furniture has a door with a bodie-exterior mirror surface.
Most of today’s commercial mirrors consist of a silver-copper or an aluminum layer, in front of which a glass pane is placed. Crystal glass is used for high-quality mirrors. Above all, the quality is important for large-area mirrors. “A larger mirror should not be less than three millimeters thick, otherwise it will deform or break easily”, advises Stephen Crumby of the online store. You should not take too much glass, otherwise the mirror becomes too heavy to hang.
Especially for families with small children there is another important quality feature. “If you have children, you should definitely take a mirror with shatter protection,” Crumby recommends. “This is ensured by a mirror made of safety glass.” If you want to retrofit a splinter guard, the mirror expert recommends special protective foils that are glued to the glass surface and prevent a falling mirror from splitting into thousands of sharp shards. Safety mirror glass has a thickness of eight millimeters. Otherwise, starches of between two and six millimeters are commercially available.
When hanging up a wall mirror, you must pay attention to the maximum load and the wall texture. On a wall with a mud plaster, for example, a heavy mirror can not be secured securely. In any case you should choose a suitable dowel to hang up to the wall and the load of the mirror. A wall mirror should be placed so that its center is about the same height.
In addition, the mirror should be positioned and aligned so that it does not reflect dirt and also no direct sunlight. On the other hand, a mirror opposite the window can enhance very dark rooms very much. The room is brighter, more friendly and bigger. Also a transversed mirror stretches the space. Mirror tiles are an attractive decorative element, but they are not suitable for the design of a functional mirror surface because they would cut the face or the body. Individual mirrors are given when they are covered with wall tattoos.
Anyone who wants to see themselves in the mirror from the head to the feet needs a Mirror and Lighting, which is at least half as high as the own body size. If it is then installed in the correct height, one looks completely. It is better, however, to choose the mirror a bit larger and to hang it so that several family members can look at each other completely. The height at which the mirror must be installed can be determined by stopping. If you do not see in the vicinity completely, a larger distance does not help.
